Why Singapore Mathematics?
The Singapore Approach to Mathematics is internationally acclaimed for its consistent effectiveness in helping pupils achieve deep conceptual understanding and long-term success in maths.
It emphasizes:
• The Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) learning approach
• Higher-order problem solving
• Mathematical discourse and reasoning
Since 1995, Singapore has consistently topped global rankings in mathematics, such as:
• TIMSS: #1 in 7 of 8 test cycles (over 64+ countries)
(TIMSS - The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study)
• PISA (OECD): Consistently ranked in the top 2 globally for
maths attainment
(PISA - Programme for International Student Assessment
OECD - Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)
Unlike traditional Western methods, Singapore Mathematics prioritises understanding over memorisation, empowering more students to succeed through differentiated strategies, procedural methods and structured progression.

A New Era for Irish
Primary Mathematics
Ireland's Evolving
Maths Curriculum
Ireland’s New Primary Mathematics Curriculum reflects a major shift in teaching and learning.
It celebrates:
• Creativity in maths thinking
• Multiple solution paths, not just memorised algorithms
• The idea that every child is mathematical
This curriculum is designed to prepare pupils for the demands of a STEM-driven world.
However, without proper training in modern approaches like Singapore Mathematics, many teachers are left without the confidence or differentiated strategies to fully implement curriculum goals. That’s where we come in.
Paddy Teacher helps bring this vision to life by equipping teachers with the tools to deliver immediate instructional impact while achieving key national objectives.

Shared Objectives
“Show me a pupil who loves a subject, and I’ll show you a teacher who inspired that passion.”
At Paddy Teacher, we believe:
• Great teaching transforms outcomes.
• No system can exceed the quality of its teachers.
• Every child deserves to succeed in maths.
• Every child is mathematical.
• Professional development should be practical, affordable,
and empowering.
We recognise that teachers are key drivers of education reform and the cornerstone of any educational system.
We offer our training at a fraction of the cost of comparable providers because we’re committed to making high-quality development accessible for all.

Transform your Mathematics
Teaching
Course Overview
This practical, classroom-focused online course is designed to strengthen your teaching of multiplication and division through the proven methodologies of Singapore Mathematics. You will enhance your pedagogical content knowledge, refine instructional clarity and develop structured approaches that build both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
Central to the course is the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach, enabling you to move pupils confidently from hands-on materials to visual representations and finally to abstract notation. You will develop precise use of mathematical language and deepen your understanding of the properties of multiplication (zero, identity, commutative, associative and distributive) as well as key divisibility principles to strengthen reasoning and number sense.
The course provides step-by-step guidance in teaching Singapore multiplication strategies using one-, two- and three-digit factors, along with division strategies for one-, two- and three-digit dividends and one- and two-digit divisors, including calculations with and without remainders. You will explore compensation strategies, structured partitioning and efficient left-to-right approaches that promote flexible thinking rather than reliance on rote procedures.
You will also learn effective methods for teaching and reinforcing multiplication and division facts to ensure long-term retention and fluency. Bar modelling and structured heuristics will be introduced to support multi-step word problems, helping pupils visualise relationships and reason mathematically with confidence.
Through expert-led interactive instruction and live modelling, you will see these methodologies demonstrated clearly and applied across class levels. The course also provides practical classroom games, ready-to-use printable templates and teaching resources to support immediate implementation.
Aligned with the Irish Primary Mathematics Curriculum, this course equips you with practical, evidence-informed strategies to improve pupil confidence, understanding and achievement in multiplication and division.

Teach with Clarity, Structure and Confidence.
Course Overview
This course is the final stage of the Primary Teacher Singapore Mathematics Learning Pathway, completing the three-part progression from addition and subtraction, through multiplication and division, to advanced problem solving. It brings together the core principles of Singapore Mathematics and applies them directly to solving word problems with clarity, structure and confidence.
Building on the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) framework, this course focuses on equipping teachers with powerful visual reasoning tools and structured heuristics that enable pupils to approach complex problems systematically. You will explore the history and global impact of Singapore Mathematics and deepen your understanding of why visual representation and structured thinking are central to its success.
A major focus of the course is bar modelling, including the Part–Whole model and the Comparison model. You will learn how to teach pupils to translate written problems into clear visual representations, making relationships and unknown quantities explicit. Through step-by-step modelling, you will develop strategies to guide pupils from initial reading to solution, strengthening reasoning and reducing cognitive overload.
The course introduces ten practical problem-solving heuristics and shows how to build strategic thinking through maths talk, questioning and structured sentence stems. You will learn how to explicitly model thinking processes, scaffold pupil responses and promote independence in multi-step problem solving.
Expert-led interactive instruction ensures that methodologies are demonstrated clearly and applied across class levels. You will also receive practical classroom games, printable templates and ready-to-use resources to support immediate implementation.
Aligned with the Irish Primary Mathematics Curriculum, this course strengthens your ability to teach reasoning, representation and communication in mathematics. By completing this final module, you will have a coherent, research-informed framework for developing confident, capable problem solvers in your classroom.
